Drip irrigation on a budget
Texas summers are hard on hand-watering. A battery hose timer, a pressure regulator, a filter and a 100 ft roll of half-inch line covered all eight beds.
I punched 1 GPH emitters every 12 inches along quarter-inch branch lines. Running the system for 25 minutes before sunrise keeps the tomatoes happy through August.
Total cost came to $57, and the timer has survived two seasons so far.
